Ten Beneficial Uses of Essential Oils - by Lori Wimbish
“Essential Oils are the volatile liquids that are distilled from plants ,
including their respective parts such as seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruit, etc...”
This definition quote is from the Reference Guide for Essential Oils , by Connie and Alan Higley ,published by Abundant Health., www.AbundantHealth4u.com.
Reference to this publication is much revered as it has the backing of clinical research and clinical studies, substantiated from work of D. Gary Young a north american expert on Essential Oils and herbalist, and Bruce Tainio, developer of equipment to measure bio-frequency of humans and food. Mr. Tainio was a scientist/researcher and Head of the Department of Agriculture at Eastern Washington State University and confirmed that the frequencies of therapeutic -grade oils is higher than processed, canned, food (the frequency of which is 0MHz), even herbs, and can raise or balance the human body’s frequencies to normal in all areas physical, mental, and emotional/even spiritual aspects. Emotions have a frequency level, also. From lower frequency of depression and apathy to the higher vibrations (frequency) of optimism, joy, and peacefulness, the pure oils can assist in this balancing/raising. The human body in a healthy, normal state vibrates anywhere from 62MHz-68MHz . The brain frequencies range from 72-90MHz. Essential Oils range from 52MHz – 320MHz. Rose Oil ‘s frequency is the highest of the oils at 320MHz.
This article will refer to those essential oils that are designated as Pure and “Therapeutic- Grade”; those oils that have been procured through the distillation process without the use of other chemical solvents and/ or procedures that would cause the oil to LACK most of the constituents and properties necessary for producing therapeutic results. Those oils that can be ingested internally should be designated GRAS – Generally Regarded As Safe for Internal Consumption by the FDA (Food And Drug Administration).
History of Essential Oils
There is evidence of Essential Oil use through the ages, as medicines, perfumes, and religious ceremonies/reasons. There are 188 references to essential oils in the Bible. Egyptian hieroglyphs and Chinese manuscripts from thousands of years ago reveals these uses of the essential oils. India, Greece, and of course throughout Europe during the Bubonic Plague. At there time the oils of Frankincense and Pine were burned in the streets. Reportedly, less numbers of people died in those areas.
Applications of Essential Oils
There are three (3) ways of applying essential oils: Topically; apply directly to the area of concern either “neat” or with a carrier oil such as sweet almond, olive, sesame, grapeseed, or coconut ,etc. . Carrier oils are used especially with the “hot” oils like, Oregano, Clove, Peppermint, Tea Tree Cinnamon. Do not use mineral oil as it clogs the pores. Also, putting the oil on the bottoms of the feet, as the pores of the feet are large and can absorb the essential oils into the body quickly - from a few minutes up to 20 minutes the properties begin their work. Also, apply oils on pulse points, and where the skin is thinner i.e., behind the knees, wrists, behind ears on top of neck, and the outside rims of the ears. Aromatically; through the sense of smell or breathing through the air the essential oils can benefit… through a diffuser, putting a drop on the hands and inhaling the oil, and putting the oil drops in a bowl or glass of water, then putting a towel over the head over the bowl and inhaling., etc. . Internally ; When ingesting internally remember to inquire on labeling as to whether the essential oil is designated by the FDA as GRAS (as above). To prepare oil for internal consumption, put drop(s) of the Essential oil in water or a beverage or put the oil in gelatin or veggie capsules, especially for those hot oils. Note: look at the directions on the bottle for suggested amounts and don’t let this info take the place of your physician or healthcare specialist. And, a rule of thumb for amount is that a little bit goes a long way…we are talking a few drops at a time, depending on the oil and the condition being addressed.
